Under or Unemployed

While the the masses are busy combing the endless but helpful job search, resume and interviewing websites so let us let us first discuss if you have a job. To retain your position, the best thing you can do is to keep continuously focused on proving your value within the company. Where possible take actions to increase your knowledge, polish and learn new skills. Take on additional projects and responsibilities. The ones who do not do these things are the first to go. Of course pay scales are a whole other issue but if you do end up with another employer down the road, you will have additional skills and accomplishments to offer.
If you have your own business, read up on new marketing techniques to reach new customers. Contact your entire customer base and say hello, then ask for a referral. There are many ways to take action toward stirring up more work that cost you little or nothing. As the old saying reminds us, if you keep DOING the same, you should expect THE SAME. Do something towards building your business (even if you hand out one business card or make one phone call) continuing these steps daily will eventually bring you a return.

If you are looking to supplement your present 9AM to 5PM job income, write out your full weekly schedule (yes, including TV time) and you will see where you can fit in a side job or create income from doing what you enjoy. Next list all the things you really like to do. Look at the list and waaay outside the box and imagine each item on your list as jobs. You may wind up with a whole new exciting and fun career. An online colleague of mine, Lee Sturdivant, who is a wonderful gardener, ended up growing and marketing the self grown flowers and herbs from the yard as well as container gardening too. The passion resulted in the authoring of three books on “Backyard to Acreage” marketing of flowers and herbs and medicinal herbs. If you Google “Flowers for Sale by Lee Sturdivant”, you may be quite impressed at how the love of a hobby can evolve into a nice income. Here’s hoping that Lee will join us here sometime soon.

Take Surveys online for cash.

These are the best I have found so far (I avoid ones with membership fees, sweepstakes and requiring “completion of program requirements” for prizes, etc.) A.W.Surveys and YourFreeSurveys. This is a new little cash collector Clix Sense
This one is great too:

Kidseyez is a survey site for children to earn cash and prizes too!
