Increasing Income

Let’s face it, we all have spending habits that we can tighten up that can help keep some of our income IN for other things that we need to use it for. Even considering the electric bill, lights out earlier each night saves you money and is good for your health.
You can grow some of your own vegetables in your yard, in someone else’s yard or in containers or pots on your window sill.

Before you buy anything, first consider where you might find it for free (see Free and Discounted pages here in Juls1World about Freecycling in your area). Read your local free Ads on www.craigslist.com and go to the library and read the free ads in the newspaper and about garage sales. You can even cruise for after the garage sales treasures. If this sounds a little bit strange to you, consider this; if you Freecycle or ask at your local garden market for four planting pots. Imagine they are worth even $2. each at the garden center (probably more depending on the size). You now have $8. dollars of Income for a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs and a loaf of bread with change left over for seeds (unless you spent the change buying them from a garage sale.) Either way, you came out ahead. Plus now you will be on your way to growing veggies or herbs that you would have otherwise paid for so that is even more additional Income to pay bills or save for something fun with.

Where else can you cut back? Although gas prices have come down, you can actually stretch what you put in your tank. Research shows that getting your gas the first thing in the morning is best for two reasons. First, it is cooler (warm liquid expands) so you get more because the gas is condensed but also it is less aerated (meaning it has less bubbles in it) and cleaner (whatever junk is in the tank in the ground is more likely still at the bottom), in that it has settled over night and is not all mixed up from the pump going on and off all day. If you can, pump the gas in slowly. This will additionally cut down on aeration and you will find yourself driving longer before your next visit to the gas station.
